Working with the feathers

The quill is the firm shaft at the lower end of the feather. You can fix it in place with hot glue or craft glue, wrap it with yarn or leather cord, or, for jewellery, push it into a sleeve and glue it in place. For a feather garland or headdress, lay the feathers out first to try the arrangement before you attach them. As a natural product, the length, shape and shade of individual feathers may differ slightly. This gives feather decorations their lively look, but you should take it into account when planning.
