Rayher lampshade film 0.3 mm – sturdy, self-adhesive on one side, slightly opaque

Rayher lampshade film is a self-adhesive film in opaque white for making your own lampshades. Thanks to its high stability, the shade keeps its shape. The slightly opaque surface lets the light shine through.

The film is sold by the metre: you get 1 m at a width of 60 cm, which is 0.6 m². The surface is satin matt. You can cover it with paper, fabric, cork fabric or Japanese tissue paper and so decide the colour and texture of the shade yourself.

Working with the film

The protective film is printed with a squared grid. It helps you mark out patterns and cut straight. Draw the shape of your shade on the protective film and cut the film to size with scissors or a craft knife. Only peel off the protective film once everything fits. Then lay paper, fabric, cork fabric or Japanese tissue paper on the adhesive side and smooth it from the centre outwards so that no air bubbles or creases form. It is best to cut the decorative fabric with a little extra allowance and trim it to size only after sticking it on.

Note on light bulbs

For homemade shades, use bulbs that give off little heat, such as LEDs, and keep enough distance between the bulb and the film.
