The Victorinox Companion (art. no. 1.3909) in red is a medium-sized pocket knife with 16 functions for the home, workshop and leisure. As well as the large blade, it has scissors, a corkscrew, a bottle opener, two screwdrivers and a nail file. It is made in Switzerland.

The parcel opener with its rounded tip and cutting edge is particularly handy. It cuts through packing tape and cardboard, and the small screwdriver is built right in. The nail file takes the place of the small blade you may know from other models.

What the tools are for

The large blade cuts fruit, string or cardboard. With the parcel opener you open parcels and packing tape without having to fold out the blade. The scissors and tweezers help with threads, labels and small splinters. With the screwdrivers (3 mm and 6 mm) you can loosen small screws, for example on glasses or appliances. The bottle opener opens bottles and the corkscrew opens wine bottles. The reamer with sewing eye pierces holes in leather, cardboard or wood beforehand, and the wire stripper removes the insulation from thin cables. The ballpoint pen is intended for short notes.

Working safely

The blade does not lock into place and cannot be locked open. Always cut away from your body, keep your fingers out of the line of the cut and do not put sideways pressure on the blade. The tools are designed for their specific purposes: do not use the blade for levering, but the appropriate screwdriver or bottle opener. Victorinox provides a guarantee on the knife.
