Rayher wire design shaping spindles – bend jewellery pieces from wire in four shapes

With the Rayher wire design shaping spindles, you can form wire jewellery pieces evenly and consistently. The set consists of four spindle shapes (oval, circle, triangle and square) and a handle, making five pieces in total. You can use them to make split rings, toggle clasps, pendants, earrings and other jewellery pieces yourself. Rayher describes the set as a tool for jewellery creations made from malleable aluminium wire.

The four shapes let you design a piece of jewellery in a consistent style, for example oval pendants with matching oval earrings. You will need to buy the wire separately, as it is not included.

Working with the shaping spindles

The process is the same for all four shapes. Keep the wire taut as you wind it, so that the shape comes out neatly.

• Choose a spindle shape and insert it into the handle.
• Fix the wire to the spindle, depending on the size of piece you want.
• Wind the wire around the spindle and pull it tight.
• If you want to work in beads, ribbons or similar, take the wire off the spindle, thread them on and place the wire back over the spindle to continue.
• Repeat until your design is finished.
• Finally, take the wire off the spindle and secure the ends as you like.
