The Staedtler Mars micro 775 with a 0.7 mm lead is a mechanical pencil for writing and drawing. 0.7 mm sits between the fine sizes 0.3 and 0.5 mm and the bolder 0.9 mm. For notes, sketches and drafts it gives you a clear, easy-to-read line.

The clip, push button and tip are made of metal, and the grip zone is non-slip rubber. The push button holds a PVC-free and latex-free eraser, so you don't need a second pencil for corrections. The lead sleeve retracts, which makes the pencil pocket-safe: the tip stays protected in a jacket pocket or pencil case.

Using the pencil

Press the push button to advance the lead. The lead sleeve is suitable for rulers and stencils, so you can trace edges and shapes with it. Advance the lead only as far as you need: a short lead is less likely to break under pressure. At 0.7 mm it is also sturdier than a 0.3 mm lead. To rub out, turn the pencil round and use the eraser in the push button.

Which lead size to choose

The model is also available in 0.3, 0.5 and 0.9 mm. 0.3 mm suits fine detail and 0.5 mm very narrow writing. Choose 0.7 mm if you write or sketch with a little more pressure and want to lay in areas quickly. You can tell the size from the pencil's ISO colour code.
