Schmincke AKADEMIE Öl color Oil Paint Set 12 × 60 ml + Brush

Schmincke AKADEMIE Öl color Oil Paint Set – 12 Oil Paints, Brush and Wooden Box

The Schmincke AKADEMIE Öl color set is a basic kit for oil painting: 12 colours in 60 ml tubes, a No. 10 brush and a wooden box for storage and transport. The paints are very buttery yet still smooth. You can apply them in strongly textured strokes, but also spread them softly. The range is designed for beginners and frequent painters alike.

The paints have a high lightfastness (4 and 5 stars only), so your paintings keep their colour for a long time. The formulation contains linseed oil, while the whites in the range contain sunflower oil. This gives a quick drying time that is consistent across all the shades. The set is made in Germany.

The 12 colours included

The set covers white, black, the three primary colours, plus blues, greens and earth tones.

• 102 Titanweiß
• 218 Primär Gelb
• 224 Indischgelb
• 304 Zinnoberrot
• 314 Primär Magenta
• 402 Primär Cyan
• 406 Ultramarin
• 412 Preußischblau
• 506 Saftgrün
• 602 Lichter Ocker
• 608 Siena gebrannt
• 704 Lampenschwarz

Mixing and choosing colours

Primär Gelb, Primär Magenta and Primär Cyan are suitable for mixing clean secondary colours: yellow and cyan make green, yellow and magenta make orange, magenta and cyan make violet. Titanweiß lightens your mixes, and Lampenschwarz darkens them. The shades in the range run from transparent to opaque. A quick test stroke on your painting surface shows you how well a shade covers. All the colours can be combined with each other, as well as with other Schmincke oil paints and painting aids, so you can easily expand the set later with further shades from the 48-colour range.
