Faber-Castell Children of the World – Bicolour Pencils in 6 Skin Tones
The Faber-Castell "Children of the World" colouring pencils are a set of 3 bicolour pencils in 6 skin tones. You can use them to draw and colour faces, portraits and figures in a range of skin tones. In each pencil the lead is split down the middle into two colours, so you get two tones per pencil and six colours with the three pencils.
The pencils have an ergonomic triangular barrel that sits comfortably in the hand. The lead is break-resistant and 3.8 mm thick. That is handy if you do a lot of colouring or use the pencils at school and in art lessons.
Working with the skin tones
When you sharpen a bicolour pencil, both colours sit side by side at the tip. By turning the pencil you decide which tone you work with. For natural-looking skin, first lay down a light area with gentle pressure, then add shadows and outlines over it with the darker tone. Because the colours can be layered, you get subtle in-between shades. Try the tones on a test sheet first, as the effect also depends on the colour of the paper.
