Sakura Gelly Roll Classic 06 – fine gel pen for writing and illustration

The Sakura Gelly Roll Classic 06 is a gel pen with water-based pigmented ink for notes, journals, letters, cards, scrapbooking and illustrations. The ball measures 0.6 mm and draws a line 0.3 mm wide. That is fine enough for writing, outlines and small details. Choose your colour from the options.

According to Sakura, the colours are opaque. That also makes the pen interesting for colouring in and finishing craft projects.

Ink properties

According to Sakura, the ink is archival, waterproof and lightfast on paper. It therefore does not fade quickly, and notes or cards stay legible for a long time. On most papers it does not bleed through or run, so you can use both sides of a sheet. Once the ink is dry, it no longer smudges. Let fresh lines dry briefly before you run your hand over them or close the notebook.

What the pen is suited to

With the 0.3 mm line, you can write small, easily legible script, draw clean outlines and add accents to drawings. Sakura lists notes, journals, letters, cards, scrapbooking, crafts, illustration and colouring in as uses. For filling in areas you will need a little patience, as the line is narrow. You should not use the pen on textiles that will be washed or on skin.
