Mayco SP-210 Speckled Teal Next Time – speckled glaze with white flecks
Mayco Stroke & Coat SP-210 Speckled Teal Next Time is a teal effect glaze with white speckles for ceramics and stoneware. It comes in a 236 ml container. It fires glossy and needs no additional clear glaze. The consistency is slightly viscous, so it is easy to apply precisely and evenly with a brush.
According to Mayco, the glaze is dinnerware safe. According to ACMI, the AP seal (Approved Product) means: non-hazardous (no labelling required).
Application
You control the opacity through the number of coats: one coat looks slightly transparent, while 2–3 coats give a strong, opaque surface. Apply the glaze with a soft brush to bisque-fired ceramics and let each coat dry before applying the next. This avoids brush marks and uneven patches. A test tile shows you beforehand how the speckles look on your clay body.
Firing and speckle effect
According to Mayco, the glaze is suitable for the whole range from cone 06 to cone 10. In a low-temperature firing at cone 06 (approx. 998 °C, guide value per Orton chart), the white speckles stay clearly visible and add high-contrast accents. In a high-temperature firing, from cone 6 (approx. 1,222 °C, guide value per Orton chart) to cone 10 (approx. 1,285 °C, guide value per Orton chart), it stays opaque and colour-stable, with no significant colour change. So you can fire it together with other pieces in different firing ranges.
