Caran d'Ache 849 Rollerball Pen Grey, Ref. 846.595

Caran d'Ache 849 Rollerball Pen in Grey – retractable rollerball in a metal slim pack

The Caran d'Ache 849 rollerball pen in grey (ref. 846.595) is a retractable rollerball with black liquid ink and a medium line width. The hexagonal barrel is made of aluminium with a matt grey lacquer finish. It comes in a white metal slim pack.

According to Caran d'Ache, the liquid ink writes smoothly and dries within a few seconds. The rollerball needs no cap: you push the tip out with the push button and retract it again after writing. The flexible metal clip holds it in your jacket pocket or on your notebook.

Refilling and handling

When the ink runs out, you replace the refill instead of the pen. Only 849 rollerball refills fit; refills for the Roller Haute Ecriture line are not compatible. When buying a replacement, check the name carefully. At around 25 g and in the XL format of 137.2 mm in length, the pen feels fairly substantial in the hand.

Grey or blue?

The rollerball is also available with a blue barrel. The ink is black in that version too, so the colour only affects the barrel. The extra-flat metal case with magnetic closure protects the pen and also works as gift packaging.
