The LYKKE BLACK Double-point Knitting Needle Set Large is a set of wooden double-pointed needles (DPNs) for everything you knit in the round. Each needle is 6 inches (15.2 cm) long, and the set covers eight sizes from US 6 / 4 mm to US 13 / 9 mm. Everything is stored in a black needle case.

The short length of 15.2 cm suits small-circumference work such as socks, wrist warmers, gloves, sleeves or the crown of a hat. With eight sizes in one set, you can compare needle sizes and switch between thinner and thicker yarns without buying separate sets of double-pointed needles.

Which size for which project?

The smaller sizes from 4 to 5 mm suit socks and gloves in finer yarn weights. With 5.5 to 6.5 mm you can knit thicker yarns for wrist warmers, leg warmers or hats. You will need the 8 and 9 mm needles for very thick yarns. Note the big jump from 6.5 to 8 mm: if your tension falls between the two, you will only reach it with a different yarn weight or needles of another size.

Knitting with double-pointed needles

Cast on your stitches and divide them evenly between three or four needles; you knit with the remaining needle. Close the round by knitting the first stitch of the first needle with the free needle. Pull the yarn a little tighter on the first stitch after each change of needle, so that no gaps form at the joins. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; choose the needle size accordingly and not just by the ball band.
