The LYKKE UMBER set small contains double-pointed needles (DPNs) made of birch wood, which you use to knit socks, gloves and other small items in the round. You get 8 needle sizes from 2 to 3.75 mm, each with 5 needles, so 40 needles in total. All the needles are 15 cm (6 inches) long and come in a case in Umber.

Working with double-pointed needles

When knitting in the round, you divide the stitches over four needles and use the fifth to knit them off. This creates a seamless tube, for example for sock legs or gloves. After changing to the next needle, pull the yarn tight so that no gaps form at the joins. The fifth needle in each size comes in handy if you want to park stitches or replace a needle.

Which needle size to choose
