The Prym Natural double-pointed needle set (art. no. 223807) contains 7 sets of 5 needles each, made of laminated wood. They are used for knitting socks, gloves and other projects in the round. The needles are 20 cm long and have a smooth shaft, so the stitches glide easily. Seven sizes from 2.0 to 4.5 mm cover the usual sock yarns, so you do not need to buy a single set of needles separately for each project.

Everything is stored in a roll-up cotton case in pink-beige. Inside there is a zipped pocket for small accessories such as a needle gauge or stitch markers. The needles are then immediately to hand and do not lie loose in the case.

Knitting with double-pointed needles

When knitting in the round, divide the stitches evenly over four needles. With the fifth needle, knit the stitches of the first. Once that needle is empty, it becomes the working needle for the next one. At the joins between needles, pull the yarn a little tighter on the first stitch. This helps avoid ladders in the knitting. Wood has more grip than smooth metal, so the stitches do not slip off the needles as easily.

Choosing the size

Go by the needle size given in your pattern or on the ball band of your yarn. For socks in fine sock yarn you will usually use the thinner needles, while the thicker sizes suit gloves, wrist warmers and other projects in thicker yarn. As the set includes the intermediate size 3.25 mm, you can fine-tune the firmness of your fabric without buying a single set separately.
