Punch Needle Kit Koala – complete kit with koala-shaped wooden frame

With the Graine Créative Punch Needle Kit Koala, you punch your first koala design using the punch needle technique. The kit contains everything you need to get started: a wooden frame in the shape of a koala head, 15 cm in diameter, a piece of fabric approx. 25 × 25 cm, a punch needle, a printed template, wool and illustrated instructions.

The instructions are included in several languages, including German and English. The kit is suitable for beginners and more experienced crafters. The frame is part of the design: once you have finished punching, the koala head stays as wall decor, so you do not need to take the work out of the frame. As everything is included in the kit, there is nothing to gather beforehand.

Working with the kit

With a punch needle, you push loops of yarn through the fabric with a hollow needle. To get even results, the fabric must be stretched tightly in the frame, because on loose fabric the loops slip out.

• Stretch the fabric evenly and tightly in the wooden frame.
• Thread the wool through the needle as shown in the instructions and follow the lines of the template.
• Push the needle all the way into the fabric and pull it back only far enough that it glides along the fabric and does not come right out.
• Place the stitches close together so that the loops hold better.
• Cut the ends of the yarn with scissors when you have finished.

Good to know

The needle is sharp, so work with care and put it down safely after punching. You work the koala design in three yarn colours: light blue, grey and black. It is best to start with the larger areas and work the black details last, so the outline stays clean.
