Rayher Mini Wooden Tray 24 x 17 x 5 cm, FSC®

Rayher Mini Wooden Tray – natural wooden blank for decorating

The Rayher mini wooden tray is a blank made of natural, FSC®-certified wood, ready for painting, sticking and decorating. At 24 × 17 × 5 cm it offers enough surface for your own design and stays handy as a decorative tray for table decorations, seasonal decorations or as a handmade gift.

Rayher suggests Chalky chalk paint, wood stain, decoupage, DecoMaché paper, mosaic tiles and the pyrography iron as ways to decorate it. According to Rayher, the tray also looks good as it is, so you can just as well leave it unpainted.

Decorating the tray

The wood is raw and untreated, so a little preparation is worthwhile. Depending on the technique, proceed as follows:

• Sand the surface lightly before decorating and wipe off the dust to leave a smooth base.
• Apply Chalky chalk paint in thin coats and let each coat dry to avoid brush marks.
• Wood stain leaves the grain visible if you want to keep the natural look.
• Pyrography works best on the raw wood, before you apply paint or varnish.
• If the tray will be handled a lot, a coat of clear varnish protects the decorated surface.
