Flat Centre Cane 10 mm – Natural Material for Weaving Baskets

Flat centre cane, 10 mm wide, is a natural product for weaving baskets and other basketry. One pack contains 500 g of weaving material.

At 10 mm, this is one of the wider widths in the range, which is also available in 5 mm and 8 mm. With wider material, your weaving progresses more quickly, while fine details and tight curves are easier with the narrower widths. The cane is not suitable for seating chairs or other seats.

Working with the cane

Place the cane in warm water before weaving. This makes it more flexible and easier to bend without breaking. Work with the material while it is still damp, and soak it again if it becomes stiffer during weaving.

Changing the colour

If you would like to change the natural shade, you can soak the cane in black tea. This dyes it in a natural way. Soak a test piece first, as the effect only shows once it has dried.
