Round Basket Base Ø 90 mm – Base for Small Baskets

The round basket base with a Ø of 90 mm is the foundation for small woven baskets. It is made of laser-cut birch plywood, is approx. 3.0 mm thick and has 17 drilled holes, into which you insert the stakes of your basket.

The 3 mm material thickness gives the base stability and lets it stand firmly. The small diameter suits mini baskets and decorative projects. For larger baskets, the same basket base is also available in Ø 160 mm.

Weaving on the base

Insert a stake into each hole and make sure it fits the approx. 3.3 mm hole with a little play. Stakes with a diameter of slightly less than 3 mm are easier to insert. Bend the stakes upwards and weave the material alternately over and under the stakes. Because 17 is an odd number, the pattern shifts by itself in every round. You can therefore work continuously with just one weaving material.
