Rayher polystyrene disc Ø 20 cm – a lightweight base for crafting

The Rayher polystyrene disc (art. no. 3003400) is a round, white board made of polystyrene (EPS), 20 cm in diameter and 4 cm high. It serves as a lightweight, dimensionally stable base for decorations, model making and displays, and is often used as a base board for wedding cakes. The smooth surface and even structure are easy to paint, cover, coat or cut.

The disc belongs to a range with diameters from 10 to 30 cm, available in heights of 4 cm and 7 cm. At 4 cm high, this disc is the flatter version for tiers and bases. If you need more volume, choose the 7 cm version.

Working with the disc

The cleanest way to cut is with a polystyrene cutter or a sharp knife, drawn through the material with a steady stroke. For painting and sticking, use water-based paints and glue. Paints, spray varnishes or adhesives containing solvents can dissolve polystyrene. Test them first on the underside or on an offcut.
