Pebaro A4 Paper Making Mould – make your own sheets of paper
With the Pebaro paper making mould (art. no. WEB0287) you can make your own A4 sheets of paper from waste paper or cellulose pulp, for example for greetings cards, writing paper or art projects. The wooden frame has a fine plastic mesh stretched firmly across it. It is light, easy to handle and reusable, and also suits beginners in papermaking.
The inner size is approx. 210 × 298 mm, which gives you sheets of roughly A4 size. The outer size of the frame is 250 × 338 mm. Your water tub therefore needs to be somewhat larger than the frame so that you can dip it in flat.
How to make paper
The frame is only the tool for lifting the pulp. You will also need felt, paper pulp and a press. Here is how it works:
- Make the pulp: soak waste paper or cellulose pulp in water and break it up.
- Pull the sheet: draw the frame, mesh side up, horizontally through the pulp and lift it out; the water drains away.
- Couching: lay the wet sheet on a felt cloth and press it down gently.
- Pressing: squeeze out more water with a press or screw clamps.
- Drying: peel the sheet off the felt and lay it out flat. Press it once more before it is completely dry and, if needed, smooth it with an iron at the end.
For even sheets
Stir the pulp briefly before each pull, because the fibres sink to the bottom of the tub. After use, rinse the mesh with clean water and leave the wooden frame to dry so that it lasts a long time.
