The Efco round lampshade ring set consists of a top ring and a bottom ring in white. You can use it to make your own lampshade from fabric, paper or film. The bottom ring is used to attach the shade to the light fitting, and the set is designed for E27 sockets.

Making your lampshade

The two rings give the shade its shape and support at the top and bottom. You design the area in between yourself: stretch fabric, paper or lampshade film around the rings and fix the cover to both rings. As the rings only form the frame, the stability of the shade also depends on the cover. Taut materials or film hold their shape better than soft fabric. The bottom ring later sits on the light fitting and carries the finished shade.

Choosing the right set

Before buying, check that your lamp has an E27 socket, as the set is designed for this. Choose the diameter to suit your project and the size of the lamp. Bear in mind that the bulb gets warm in use. Use a low-heat bulb, such as an LED bulb, and leave enough distance between the bulb and the cover.
