Folia Felt Embroidery Set – 5 Felt Sheets, 5 Embroidery Threads and 10 Needles

The Folia felt embroidery set (art. no. 53419) is a craft kit for embroidering on felt. You get 20 pieces: 5 embroidery felt sheets in light green, white, red, yellow and blue (approx. 21 × 29.5 cm each), 5 assorted colourful embroidery threads of approx. 3 m each and 10 plastic needles. Embroidery instructions are included, so you can start on your first designs without any further materials.

The felt is 100% polyester. You can cut it to shape and embroider it, for example for small gifts, cards, pendants or sewn-on appliqués. As felt does not fray at the cut edges, you do not need to finish them.

How to embroider

Draw your design on the felt with a pencil or another pen and cut out the shape if needed. Thread a length of embroidery thread through a plastic needle, tie a knot in the end and bring the needle up from the back. Simple stitches such as running stitch, backstitch or cross stitch are enough for outlines, patterns and lettering. The embroidery instructions in the set show you how to get started.

Planning your thread and felt

With approx. 3 m per colour, small to medium-sized designs work best. A filled area needs considerably more thread than an outline.

• Cut the working thread to no more than about an arm's length, so that it twists less often as you stitch.
• With five felt colours you can set the background and appliqué apart, for example a red heart on a blue ground.
• Try out new stitches on a scrap of felt first.
