da Vinci PRIMO round learner brush, therapeutic children's paintbrush

da Vinci PRIMO round learner brush – a sturdy paintbrush for children's hands

The da Vinci PRIMO round learner brush is a painting brush for children's hands, which you can use at school and for therapeutic work. The brush head is made of very robust, elastic synthetic fibre and ends in a fine tip. The rust-resistant, seamless aluminium ferrule holds the fibres together in the brush head.

The short wooden handle is finished with a water-based varnish and flattened at the sides. This makes it sit well in the hand and stops it rolling off the table. According to da Vinci, the brush is vegan and is quality-tested individually. It is made in Germany.

What to paint with and how

The round brush is intended for water-based paints such as poster paint, tempera and watercolour, and is used on paper. The fine tip draws thin lines, while laying the brush head on its side gives broader strokes and larger areas. The flattened handle gives small hands a clear grip position. This helps with painting exercises in a group, with work in class and in a therapeutic setting.

Care and choice

After painting, rinse the brush in clean water, smooth it back into shape and leave it to dry lying flat. Do not leave it standing head-down in the water jar for long periods, or the tip will bend. The da Vinci PRIMO range is also available with bristle heads. You can use the synthetic brush with a round tip for lines and small areas with water-based paints.
