They have synthetic fibres and short wooden handles. The set includes round and flat brushes, so you can paint details, lines and larger areas with a single set.

The synthetic fibres pick up paint well. The short handles sit close to the hand, which helps with controlled work, for example when painting decorative objects, on paper or on canvas. The set suits hobby and school use.

Using the brushes

The three sizes cover different stages of a painting. The larger the brush, the more area you cover in one stroke, for example when priming or laying in backgrounds. The smallest brush (size 4) is suited to details, outlines and fine lines. Use the round brush in the set for lines, dots and details, and the flat brushes to apply paint to areas and create clean edges.

• Start with the largest brush for areas and work your way down to the smaller ones for details.
• Pick up only a little paint and wipe the brush on the rim of the container so the fibres do not stick together.
• Let each layer dry before adding details on top.

Acrylic or gouache – and care

Acrylic paint dries quickly on the brush. Rinse the brushes with water straight after painting and do not leave them standing in water with the fibres downwards, otherwise the hairs will bend. Gouache can be re-dissolved with water even after it has dried. Dry the brushes lying flat.
