Prym Universal Hairpin Lace Loom – adjustable frame for hairpin lace

With the Prym Universal hairpin lace loom you crochet airy lace strips in hairpin lace. The frame can be assembled in eight widths between 20 mm and 100 mm. This lets you decide how wide the strip will be and how long the loops at the sides will turn out.

The cross bars are made of plastic and have 6 holes each. The strips can later be made into scarves, cushions, net bags or doilies.

How the lace strip is made

In hairpin lace you work in alternation: you pull up a loop, turn the loom and crochet a double crochet. A lace strip grows with loops along the sides. In the next step you crochet these loops together in various patterns. How you join them determines the look: the result ranges from denser stripes to open, airy lace.

Which width should you choose?

For narrow strips and fine edgings, assemble the frame at a narrow setting. For wide, softly draping scarves or doilies, set it wider. You decide on the width before you start crocheting and keep it for the whole strip. For an even result, always work one strip with the same setting.
