Prym white buttonhole elastic – elastic with buttonholes for adjustable waistbands

Prym buttonhole elastic (art. no. 956052) is a smooth, 18 mm wide elastic with built-in buttonholes. You thread it through the casing and adjust the waist size with a button. According to Prym, the elastic is suitable for children's clothing and maternity wear.

The elastic is soft and supple and does not dig in. It is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, washable up to 60 °C and tumble-dryer safe. The roll is 10 m long, so you can use it for several garments.

Using the buttonhole elastic

Sew the waistband as a casing and leave a small opening. The casing should be slightly wider than the 18 mm elastic so that it does not bunch up or twist. Attach a safety pin to the end of the elastic and pull it through the channel. Make sure the buttonholes do not disappear inside the casing but sit where you want to fasten the button. You adjust the width by fastening the button at one of the buttonholes: with children's clothing you can adapt it as they grow, and with maternity wear as the bump grows.
