Prym Elastic Band cross-stable, 30 mm – elastic for waistbands, hems and pyjamas

The Prym Elastic Band cross-stable in black is a flat elastic 30 mm wide, for waistbands, hems and elasticated waists. You can thread it through the hems of trousers or jackets, or topstitch it onto the waistband of trousers and skirts or onto waist belts. It is also suitable as elastic in pyjamas. According to Prym, it can also be used to finish necklines and armholes and to reinforce waistbands.

The band is made of 78% polyester and 22% elastodiene. It is washable up to 60 °C and tumble-dryer safe, so you can care for the garment as usual. It is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. The length is 1 m.

Using the band

To thread it through a casing, pin a safety pin to the end of the band and feed the band through the casing. Leave a little extra protruding on both sides, sew the ends together with an overlap and then close the opening in the hem. To topstitch it, sew with a zigzag or another stretch stitch and stretch the band slightly as you go, so the seam does not break when worn. Measure the length against your body beforehand and allow a seam allowance at the ends for the overlap.
