The FineTec Pearlescent Colours 24-colour set is a paintbox with 24 water-soluble artists' colours for watercolour, calligraphy, painting and graphics. According to the manufacturer, the set consists of 22 pearlescent colours and 2 flip-flop colours. The colours are made from purified gum arabic and pearlescent pigments, are highly pigmented and have high lightfastness. They are produced in Germany.

The two flip-flop colours are called Patina (green|gold) and Twilight (blue|violet). They change their shade depending on the light and the angle of view. The other 22 colours are classic pearlescent colours with a shimmer, including several gold and copper shades as well as reds, violets, blues and greens, and silver.

Working with the colours

Moisten the brush and dissolve the colour in the pan. In the lid of the case you will find mixing areas where you can mix shades together. The colours are opaque, so they are not transparent watercolours in the classic sense. They adhere to absorbent surfaces such as paper, card, wood and stone. As well as a brush, you can also write with traditional pens and glass pens, for example for calligraphy. The flip-flop colours only show their colour change once dry, when you tilt the sheet in the light. A test stroke on your paper will show you beforehand how they look for you.

Which set is right for you?

The 24-colour set mainly contains classic pearlescent colours and only two flip-flop colours. If the colour-change effect matters most to you, take a look at the 6-colour set instead: all six colours there are flip-flop colours. The pans are interchangeable, so you can refill the case later to suit your needs.
