MINI Eiffel Tower scratch art picture – scratch the design onto silver

The MINI scratch art picture from the Engraving ART series shows the Eiffel Tower as a pre-printed design on black-lacquered card. With the engraving pen supplied, you scratch away the black lacquer layer along the marked lines. The silver coating underneath is revealed, and the design takes shape stroke by stroke.

The set contains one pre-printed card, one engraving pen and one practice card. So you do not need any other materials and can start straight away.

How to scratch the design

First try out on the practice card how much pressure is needed: light pressure gives fine lines, more pressure gives broader strokes. Then scratch along the pre-printed lines of the Eiffel Tower, and work over whole areas where you want more silver to show. Hold the pen like a pencil, but slightly more upright, so that the tip removes the lacquer layer cleanly.

• Gently blow away the scratched-off bits or brush them away with a soft brush, rather than wiping your hand across the picture.
• Work from the side that avoids smudging the picture: right-handers usually start at the top left, left-handers at the top right.
• The engraving pen is pointed. Put it away after use and only use it under adult supervision.
