Schmincke AQUA Glanz – more gloss and luminosity for watercolour paints

Schmincke AQUA Glanz is a gloss medium for watercolour painting. It increases the gloss and luminosity of the colours and slows drying. The medium contains gum arabic solution and, like watercolour paint, does not dry waterproof.

You can apply AQUA Glanz neat or mix it into your watercolour paints. Water can be used as a diluent. The bottle contains 60 ml.

Using AQUA Glanz

You can work with the gloss medium in two ways, depending on the effect you want. The effect is strongest neat; water weakens it.

• Mixing in: add AQUA Glanz to the mixed watercolour paint so that the colour dries glossier and more luminous.
• Applying afterwards: brush AQUA Glanz neat over the paint once it has dried if you want to emphasise individual areas.
• Not for pans: do not add AQUA Glanz directly to the colour pans in your paintbox.

Good to know

Because AQUA Glanz slows drying, the paint stays workable a little longer and you have more time for blending. The dried layer is not waterproof, so it behaves like the watercolour paint itself. A test strip on your watercolour paper shows you beforehand how strong the gloss is with your colour and dilution.
