Talens Ecoline Watercolour Ink Set, 10 × 30 ml with Pipette

Talens Ecoline Watercolour Ink Set – 10 transparent colours in bottles with pipette

The Talens Ecoline watercolour ink set contains 10 liquid watercolour paints in 30 ml bottles. The colours are transparent and based on dye and gum arabic. You can use them for watercolours, illustrations or calligraphy, and mix colour gradients with water.

The bottles have a wide opening, so you can dip a brush or pen straight in. Use the pipette to dose the colour into a mixing palette or to apply it directly to the paper. With lemon yellow, magenta and sky blue (cyan), the set covers the primary colours. Light orange, vermilion, ultramarine violet, green, sepia, grey and black complete it.

Working with Ecoline

For watercolour effects, dilute the ink with water: the more water, the lighter and more transparent the shade. For wet-in-wet techniques, dampen the paper first and drip or paint the colour into it so that it blends softly. For details, dip the brush straight into the bottle. The ink can also be used with a drawing pen or ruling pen. Use the pipette when you want to mix small amounts in a palette, so you don't have to open the bottle and dip in each time.

Mixing colours, paper and storage

With lemon yellow, magenta and sky blue (cyan), you have the primary colours in the set and can mix intermediate shades yourself. Because the colours are transparent, they work best on white or very pale paper, according to the manufacturer. They adhere to watercolour paper, drawing paper and card. The ink is not particularly lightfast. To keep the colours at their best, store finished work in a portfolio and do not leave it permanently exposed to light.
