Marabu Alcohol Ink Set Underwater – fluid art starter set with inks, marker and paper

The Marabu Alcohol Ink Set Underwater is a fluid art starter set with alcohol ink: it contains three vivid, mixable, quick-drying inks (Enzian 057, Amethyst 081, Diamant 511), a black permanent marker, five sheets of special paper and a leaflet. You can start straight away on flowing designs with unpredictable colour gradients.

Diamant is an effect colour with a sparkling shimmer. The special paper is matt, non-absorbent and matched to alcohol ink, so the colour flows well. The leaflet explains how to use the inks and shows ideas, tips and tricks.

Working with the set

Alcohol ink dries quickly and spreads unpredictably – that is exactly its appeal. Prepare your workspace before you open the bottle. Marabu recommends disposable gloves and a protective mask; the work surface should also be covered and a window opened.

• Apply the ink to the special paper and let the colours flow into one another.
• Mix colours in a plastic mixing palette if needed; they can be lightened with extender.
• Shake Diamant before use; according to Marabu, a mixing ball is included for this.
• Ink that has started to dry can be loosened again with alcohol ink or extender.
• Add embellishments, lettering or sketches with the black marker only once the design is dry.

Surfaces and choice of set

Alcohol ink is suitable for all non-absorbent surfaces, for example metal, ceramic, glass and plastic. The ink behaves differently depending on the surface, so Marabu recommends doing test applications. Use the five A6 sheets to practise first on the matched paper. The sister set Flowers contains the colours Magenta, Zitron and Karibik instead of Enzian, Amethyst and Diamant.

Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Store locked up. Dispose of contents/container to hazardous waste disposal. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking.
