Pilot FriXion Fineliner 1.3 – write, rub out, rewrite

The Pilot FriXion Fineliner 1.3 (F) is a fineliner with erasable ink for notes, sketches and drawings. You remove mistakes with the plastic tip on the top of the cap: the thermo-sensitive ink turns colourless from the frictional heat at approx. 60 °C, and no eraser crumbs are left behind.

The break-resistant and pressure-resistant polyacetal fibre tip (1.3 mm tip) draws a fine line of approx. 0.45 mm. You can write neatly in notebooks and diaries and draw delicate details. Choose your colour from the options.

How to correct

Rub the plastic tip on the top of the cap firmly over the line a few times until the frictional heat makes the ink colourless. The writing disappears without eraser crumbs, and you can write on the same spot straight away. This is practical for planners, bullet journals, mandalas and sketches where you may still want to change lines.

Heat and cold

FriXion ink reacts to temperature: heat makes it colourless, and cold can bring it back. If you put a sheet in the freezer for a short time (from approx. −10 °C), the erased writing reappears. For anything that must stay legible permanently, it is better to use a document-proof pen.

Pilot FriXion Fineliner 1.3 product details

  • Manufacturer: Pilot, art. no. 4170001
  • Series: FriXion Fineliner 1.3 (F)

  • Line width: approx. 0.45 mm
  • Ink: thermo-sensitive, erasable, not document-proof

The ink is not document-proof. Pilot advises against using erasable ink for signatures, legal documents and exam papers. The writing turns colourless at temperatures above approx. 60 °C, so do not expose written paper to heat (e.g. in a car or on a radiator).
