Product information

Faber-Castell Grip quick-adjust compass – quickly set for circles up to Ø 390 mm

The Faber-Castell Grip quick-adjust compass (art. no. 174434) is a black compass for school and training, which you can use to draw circles up to Ø 390 mm. You set the radius using a gear-wheel adjustment with a centre wheel. According to Faber-Castell, the centre wheel spindle sits firmly, so the width you have set does not change unintentionally while you draw.

The compass legs move very smoothly, and the needle and lead are clamped so they do not slip. This helps when you want to draw several circles with the same radius. A tin with spare parts and leads is included. The compass is made in Germany.

Drawing clean circles

A Ø of 390 mm corresponds to a radius of 195 mm. Use the centre wheel to set the radius you want and check it against a ruler. It is important that the needle point and the lead point are at the same height, otherwise the circle will be uneven. It is best to draw a test circle first on an offcut of the paper.

  • Place the needle in the centre and press it in only lightly
  • Hold the compass by the top handle between thumb and forefinger
  • Tilt it slightly in the direction of drawing and turn it in one even movement

Spare parts and leads

The tin supplied keeps spare parts and leads neatly stored. When a lead is worn down, the lead clamp lets you replace it and carry on working straight away.
