Botz Liquid Glaze 9542 Blaueffekt – glossy green-blue with light effects
Botz liquid glaze 9542 Blaueffekt is a glossy, greenish-blue glaze for bisque-fired ceramics. It shows subtle pale highlights that give the surface depth. The glaze is opaque and looks textured to slightly speckled. It is stable in the firing range 1020–1060 °C and suitable for raku.
The glaze comes ready to use in an 800 ml container and is applied directly with a brush. You can glaze bowls, cups, figures or decorative objects in earthenware without having to mix the glaze first.
Application
The glaze is applied to ceramics that have already been bisque-fired. The bisque firing should have been carried out at 950 °C or higher.
- Stir the glaze well before use so that any settled particles are mixed back in
- If needed, thin with a little water
- Apply to the piece with a brush
- Leave to dry thoroughly and, if needed, apply another coat
- Fire in the firing range 1020–1060 °C
Effect and choice
Blaueffekt is an effect glaze: the light effects give the green-blue depth, so it does not look flat. The glaze is opaque, so the colour of your clay body affects the result less than with transparent glazes. The best way to see how the effects turn out is to glaze a test piece in your own clay, using the same number of coats as on your final piece. If you prefer more even areas of colour, have a look at the plain colours in the Botz liquid glaze range.
