Prym Hollow Rivets 7.5 mm – Brass Rivets for Leather, Bags and Textiles

Prym hollow rivets (art. no. 403150) join thicker materials such as leather, bags or textile accessories permanently. Each rivet consists of a cap and a post. They are made of rustproof, silver-coloured brass and have a diameter of 7.5 mm. They are suitable for material thicknesses of 3–4 mm. This helps when choosing: very thin layers hold poorly, and on much thicker material the rivet will no longer close.

The pack contains 20 rivets and a small setting tool made up of a base and a punch. You will also need a hammer.

Setting hollow rivets

You need a hole punch or punch pliers for making the holes, and a hammer for setting the rivets. A test piece made from offcuts shows you beforehand whether the hole size and strength of the blows are right.

• Mark the position and punch the material to fit the shaft of the post.
• Push the post through the hole from the back and place the cap on top.
• Place the base underneath, set the punch on top and strike with the hammer using even, controlled blows.
• Check that the rivet is firmly seated. Blows that are too hard can deform the rivet.
