Wooden Elephant Blank for Painting, 12 × 9 × 2 cm

Wooden elephant blank for painting, gluing and decorating

The small wooden elephant is an untreated blank for painting, gluing and decorating. At 12 × 9 × 2 cm it is easy to handle and flat enough to work on from all sides at your leisure. The surface is smooth and takes paint, varnish and glue well.

As the wood is untreated, you can decorate it however you like: in opaque colour, with transparent glazes, in patterns, or with glued-on papers, napkins and decorative elements.

Decorating the elephant

Untreated wood absorbs a lot of paint. A thin first coat evens this out, and further coats then cover evenly. Let each coat dry thoroughly before applying the next. With water-based paints the wood grain can lift. If it does, sand the surface very lightly after the first coat, and the following coats will be smoother. It is best to add fine patterns and details only once the base colour is dry. Finally, a coat of varnish protects the painted surface.
