Rayher oval MDF photo frame – freestanding frame to decorate yourself

The Rayher oval MDF photo frame (art. no. 62589000) is a freestanding photo frame that you can paint or cover to suit your taste. It measures 19 × 14 × 1.5 cm and has an oval aperture of 13.5 × 8.5 cm. That way you can check whether your photo fits before you start decorating.

MDF stands for medium-density fibreboard, a tightly pressed wood material made from very fine wood fibres. The surface is even and easy to work. Chalky finish paint, all-purpose paint or decoupage paper stick to it well.

Decorating the frame

For light colours and for decoupage, a white primer is worthwhile: the colours look brighter on it because the brown MDF does not show through. Apply the primer thinly and let it dry completely before you add paint or a napkin. With chalky finish paint or all-purpose paint you can paint the frame in a single colour, with a pattern or in a distressed look. With decoupage paper you can cover it with a motif.

Preparing the photo

Before inserting your photo, measure it against the 13.5 × 8.5 cm aperture. The picture should be slightly larger than the aperture so that nothing shows through at the edge.
