Working with the corks

For figures, animals or coasters, it is best to glue the corks together with hot glue or a strong craft glue. Hot glue sets quickly, while craft glue gives you more time to line things up.

• To shorten or halve a cork, cut with a sharp craft knife on a cutting mat, guiding the blade away from your body.
• For wreaths, glue the corks onto a ring of cardboard or polystyrene until no gaps are visible.
• Acrylic paint is suitable for painting; on rough cork it usually only covers after two coats.
