Proxxon 4-in-1 MicroSpeeder – a ratchet ring spanner for four spanner sizes

The Proxxon 4-in-1 MicroSpeeder (art. no. 23236) is a double ratchet ring spanner with two rings: 10 × 13 mm and 17 × 19 mm. One tool therefore covers the 10, 13, 17 and 19 mm sizes, which according to Proxxon are among the most important for car bolts. That saves space in your toolbox and the hassle of swapping spanners while you work.

The ratchet has a 72-tooth inner ring made of high-alloy special steel. It engages after just 5° of lever movement, so you can keep going even where there is little room to swing. The laser marking shows the spanner sizes clearly.

Using the MicroSpeeder

Choose the ring that matches the size of your bolt: 10 or 13 mm on one end, 17 or 19 mm on the other. Push the ring fully onto the head and set the direction with the lever: clockwise to tighten, anticlockwise to loosen. Thanks to the ratchet you do not need to lift the spanner off: you simply swing it back and forth, and just 5° of lever travel is enough to drive the bolt. This helps above all where there is hardly any room to reposition the spanner.

Who is it for, and what should you know?

The MicroSpeeder replaces two single double ring spanners with one. In return, it is somewhat bulkier than two separate double ring MicroSpeeders, because both pairs of rings are in one tool. With the 13 and 19 mm rings, the spanner cannot be slid through. If you often work in very confined spaces, check beforehand whether there is enough room for the ring head.
