Proxxon cutting discs 28810 – 10 discs with arbor for metal, wood and plastic

The Proxxon cutting disc set 28810 contains 10 corundum-bonded cutting discs, Ø 22 mm and 0.7 mm thick, plus an arbor (mandrel). You can use them to cut alloy and non-alloy steels, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals. Wood and plastic can be cut as well. The discs are made with a special bonding agent.

The arbor has a Ø 2.35 mm shank. You clamp it in a hand-held tool with a suitable collet, for example a mini drill or a straight grinder. The discs are thin and therefore cut a narrow kerf. That is useful for sheet metal, round stock, screws or model parts when only a little material should be removed.

Working with the cutting discs

Clamp the arbor firmly in the collet and fit a disc. The workpiece should be held securely. Let the tool reach full speed first, then apply the disc with light pressure. Guide it straight through the cut and do not twist or tilt it, as thin discs are sensitive to side loads and can break. Always wear safety goggles when cutting. If the disc jams in the cut, switch the tool off before you release the workpiece.

Which material are you cutting?

The discs are intended for steels, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals, such as brass, copper or aluminium. Wood and plastic also work. With plastic, use little pressure so that the material does not melt. Your tool must not exceed the maximum speed of 20,000 rpm, otherwise the discs may shatter.
