Proxxon 28080 replacement cutting wire – 30 m NiCr wire for THERMOCUT 230/E

The Proxxon replacement cutting wire (art. no. 28080) is a spare wire for the THERMOCUT 230/E and other hot wire cutters. You can use it to cut polystyrene and thermoplastic materials. The spool holds 30 m of wire, 0.2 mm in diameter, made of NiCr 8020, a nickel-chromium alloy.

At 30 m long, the spool gives you a supply for many wire changes. When the wire wears out or breaks, you can cut it to whatever length your machine needs. The thin 0.2 mm wire makes narrow cuts.

When changing the wire

Disconnect the machine from the mains before changing the wire and let the old wire cool down. Fit the new wire as described in your machine's instruction manual. To do so, cut it from the spool to the right length with pliers. The wire gets hot during use, and fumes are produced when cutting polystyrene. Work in a well-ventilated room and follow the instructions in the manual.
