Rayher polystyrene female head – a head to decorate and display

The Rayher polystyrene female head (art. no. 3396700) is a realistically modelled woman's head, 29 cm tall. It serves as a base for craft and decorative projects and as a display head. According to Rayher, you can paint it with all-purpose or craft paint, embroider it with sequins, needle-felt it, or cover it with rhinestones and fabric.

As a display head it shows off hats, wigs or pieces of jewellery, combining decoration with practical use.

Decorating the head

The smooth surface works well as a base. However, polystyrene is sensitive to solvents: spray paints and solvent-based glues can dissolve the material. Use water-based craft paint and craft glue instead. For needle felting, push the felting wool straight into the head with the felting needle; fabric and rhinestones are glued on.

As a display head

For hats, wigs or jewellery you do not need to alter the head. At 29 cm tall, it is a handy stand to place on a shelf or table. If you want it to stand permanently as a decoration, you can decorate it beforehand in your own style.
