Efco transparent enamel powder set – 10 colours for enamelled jewellery

The Efco transparent enamel set contains 10 coordinated transparent colours as enamel powder, 5 ml each, for enamelling. The powder works very well for making jewellery. The firing range is 750–850 °C.

The colours range from pale Fondant through yellow and green shades to blue, violet and chestnut. One set lets you try several shades without buying large individual tubs. Transparent enamel colours let the base show through, so the result also depends on the metal you fire on.

Applying the enamel powder

The powder is sifted on dry and then fired in the kiln. Work on a clean, grease-free piece of metal, for example a copper blank.

• Brush a thin, even coat of enamel adhesive onto the metal
• Sift the powder on evenly with a sieve
• Leave the adhesive to dry for a few minutes until the piece is ready for firing
• Fire in the kiln at a temperature within the firing range of 750–850 °C

Choosing colour and blank

As all ten colours are transparent, each layer looks different on bare copper than on another base. Make a test piece before the actual piece of jewellery to check the shade and layer thickness. Use only blanks that can withstand the firing temperature, and a kiln that reaches the firing range.
