Rayher stud earring blanks with flat pad – for making your own earrings

Rayher stud earring blanks with flat pad and clutch backs are made of surgical steel. You glue your own decorative elements onto them to make individual earrings. The bag contains 4 pieces, i.e. 2 pairs. The flat pad has a diameter of 6 mm and provides an even surface for gluing, while the clutch backs hold the studs in place on the ear.

Small elements such as beads, cabochons, seed beads or shapes you have modelled yourself from FIMO fit on the pad. As the surface is small, choose decorative elements that are no larger than the pad so that the stud does not wobble.

Making your stud earrings

Clean the pad before gluing and degrease it lightly, for example with a little alcohol, so that the glue bonds well. Place the decorative element in the centre of the pad, press it down briefly and leave the glue to dry completely before you wear the studs. Use a glue that is suitable for metal and apply only a little: excess glue oozes out at the edge and is visible.

Suitable decorative elements

Elements with a flat back are suitable, such as cabochons, flat beads or shapes made from modelling clay. Round beads with a hole are better glued onto filigree bead caps or similar settings, which hold them in place on the pad.
