The da Vinci MICRO NOVA Set 4275 contains four extra-fine synthetic brushes for miniature, tabletop and micro painting. You can use them to paint the tiniest details such as eyes, engravings, edges or patterns on figures and models.

Two brushes belong to series 170 with a straight ferrule, two to series 175 with an angled ferrule. The handles are short and hexagonal with a flat side, so the brush does not roll away on the table. That saves a lot of frustration when you are working on tiny figures.

Painting fine details

Pick up only a little paint and thin acrylic paint slightly so that it flows from the tip in fine lines. Wipe the brush off on the palette before applying and touch the tip down lightly: too much paint fills recesses and blurs details. The finest sizes draw thin lines, while the slightly larger ones fill small areas. Rinse the brushes thoroughly after painting, before acrylic paint dries in the ferrule, and do not leave them standing in water.

Straight or angled ferrule – which brush for what?

Use the straight brushes of series 170 (size 20/0 and 10/0) for even lines and dots. The brushes of series 175 (size 15/0 and 5/0) have an angled ferrule. This lets you reach spots that are hard to get at with a straight brush, such as recesses or areas under overhangs. The sizes follow standard brush numbering: the higher the number before the slash, the finer the brush.
