Sewing in the zip

For thick fabrics such as denim or leather, you need a strong needle, for example a jeans needle, and a zip foot that lets you sew close to the row of teeth. Pin or baste the zip in place before sewing so the tape does not shift. Do not sew over the metal teeth themselves; run the seam right beside them. A needle that hits metal can break.
