Prym Omnigrid Universal Ruler 6.5 x 24 inch – long grid ruler for rotary cutters

The Prym Omnigrid universal ruler in 6.5 x 24 inch (approx. 16.5 x 61 cm) is a transparent grid ruler for measuring, marking and cutting fabric, for example for patchwork, dressmaking or graphic work. The yellow/black grid print with inch scale is easy to read on light and dark fabrics alike. The scratch-resistant laser print is on the underside, so according to Prym there is no visual distortion when you read the measurements.

The thick, hard-wearing material guides rotary cutters and pull knives safely along the edge on the cutting mat. At 61 cm long, it lets you cut longer fabric strips in a single pass. Angle markings for 30, 45 and 60 degrees help you cut triangles, diamonds and bias strips.

Cutting with the ruler

Lay the fabric flat on the cutting mat and line up one grid line of the ruler with a straight fabric edge or fold. Hold the ruler firmly with your flat hand and keep your fingers away from the cutting edge. Run the rotary cutter along the edge of the ruler with even pressure, always moving away from your body. For bias strips or triangles, place the matching angle marking (30, 45 or 60 degrees) against the edge of the fabric.

Choosing the size

At 6.5 x 24 inch, this ruler is the wide, long version in the series: you can cut wider widths of fabric and long strips without repositioning. For small cuts and detail work, the shorter sizes in the series, such as 1 x 6 inch, 4 x 8 inch or 4 x 14 inch, are easier to handle.
