Prym soft elastic in white – sewing elastic for waistbands and hems

Prym soft elastic in white is a sewing elastic to thread through or stitch onto trouser, skirt and pyjama waistbands. It comes as a 10 m card. Choose the width from the options.

According to Prym, the band keeps its shape when stretched and does not dig in. It is suitable for fine, lightweight fabrics. You can wash it at 60 °C and tumble dry it.

How to use the elastic

To thread it through, sew a channel into the waistband that is slightly wider than the elastic. Fasten a safety pin to the end of the elastic and pull it through the channel. Then sew the ends together, overlapping them, or fix them to the waistband so the elastic cannot slip back. To stitch it on, place the elastic on the fabric edge and sew it down with a stretch stitch or zigzag stitch. Stretch it slightly as you sew so the seam does not break when worn.

Choosing the width

Choose the width to suit your project: narrower bands are intended for fine, lightweight fabrics, while wider bands spread the pull over a larger area of the waistband. White suits light fabrics. For dark fabrics, you can take the same series in black.
