Go Handmade Velvet Faux Leather Cord – for Braiding and Fastening

The Velvet faux leather cord from Go Handmade is a cord with a diameter of 3.0 mm and a length of 5 m. You can braid it into bands or use it, for example, to attach handles to bags. Choose your colour from the options.

With 5 m in one piece, you can cut several short lengths or braid a longer band. The cord is round and, at 3 mm in diameter, is neither too thin nor very thick. This makes it easy to work into narrow bands.

Working with the cord

For a braided band, lay three strands of equal length side by side, knot them at one end and braid them like a plait. Cut the strands generously, as the cord shortens noticeably when braided. If the cord is to hold a handle on a bag, pass it through the eyelet or loop and secure the ends with a firm knot or sew them down. Suitable end caps or fasteners need an inside diameter of 3 mm.
