Prym Elastic Band extra soft, 20 mm – soft elastic for clothes worn next to the skin

The Prym Elastic Band extra soft in white is a woven elastic that you sew in as a waistband elastic for pyjamas, underwear, trousers and skirts. It is 20 mm wide and comes as a 2 m length.

The extra soft surface is intended for clothing that sits directly against the skin. The band keeps its shape when stretched and does not roll up. This matters especially in a waistband, where it neither digs in nor rolls over. At 20 mm it is the widest version in the range: it spreads the tension over a larger area than the narrower 10 mm and 15 mm bands.

Using the elastic

For elastic in a casing, make the casing slightly wider than the band so that it does not twist. Thread the band through with a safety pin. The length depends on your pattern. Usually you cut it slightly shorter than the body measurement and sew the ends together with an overlap. Alternatively, sew the band directly onto the fabric.

Which width to choose

The 20 mm band suits the waistbands of trousers, skirts and pyjamas where a wider elastic is wanted. For delicate underwear and narrow edgings, the same quality is also available in 10 mm and 15 mm.
